The We Outside Foundation exists to ensure that access to nature, wellness, and community is not limited by income, age, or circumstance.

While We Outside operates as a culture-led outdoor lifestyle brand and community space, We Outside Foundation is our nonprofit arm, dedicated to community-supported and grant-funded programs that center access, care, and long-term connection to the outdoors.

Together, they move in relationship. One builds culture through experience. The other helps ensure care, access, and continuity remain possible.

For many people, the outdoors is shaped by barriers that go beyond interest or curiosity. Cost, transportation, time, safety, and representation all influence who feels welcome and who is left navigating on their own.

The We Outside Foundation exists to meet those realities directly. Our work focuses on creating pathways into nature that are free or low-cost, relationship-based, and rooted in care rather than extraction. We believe that time outdoors supports mental and physical well-being, strengthens community bonds, and creates space for rest, reflection, and belonging.

The Foundation allows We Outside to extend its values beyond what retail, memberships, or ticketed experiences alone can reach, while staying aligned with the same spirit of joy, culture, and wellness.

The We Outside Foundation supports programs and initiatives that prioritize:

  1. Outdoor access and connection for communities facing economic or systemic barriers

  2. Community wellness and healing through nature-centered experiences that support rest, reflection, and collective care.

  3. Youth and emerging leaders building confidence, belonging, and environmental connection.

  4. Intergenerational experiences that bring elders, families, and young people into shared relationship with land and place.

  5. Long-term stewardship through education, mentorship, and leadership development

Programs may include guided outdoor experiences, wellness gatherings, educational sessions, leadership pathways, and community-based initiatives. As the Foundation grows, this work will continue to evolve in response to community needs and partnerships.

We Outside and the We Outside Foundation operate independently while working in close alignment.

We Outside functions as a for-profit brand and storefront, hosting events, selling goods, and cultivating outdoor culture through experiences that people choose to participate in.

The Foundation focuses on impact-driven programming supported by grants, donations, and community investment. This structure allows the work to reach further and more equitably, especially for those who may not yet be able to participate through paid experiences.

Revenue from the business helps stabilize the ecosystem. Foundation support allows the work to deepen and expand. Neither replaces the other.

The We Outside Foundation is in an early growth phase. Our current focus is building strong partnerships, thoughtful programs, and the internal capacity needed to support long-term impact with integrity.

We are committed to growing at a pace that centers care, sustainability, and accountability to the communities we serve.

If you’re interested in partnering with us early or supporting the Foundation as this work takes shape, we welcome the conversation. Whether you’re an individual donor, a funder, or a potential partner, your involvement helps expand access to nature through care-centered, community-supported programming.
